ARTIST INTRODUCTiON

Hi there! Thanks for dropping by and viewing my website!

The paintings on this introductory page will give you a glimpse of my art process and creative vision. These images are also important ones to me personally as markers in my creative development embarking as a painter from 2015 onwards. Paintings appear here on this page starting with most recent examples from 2018/19.

Prior to 2015, I was a full time in-house senior greetings card illustrator and designer of some twenty years experience. I initiated and created various consistent card and stationery ranges for major high street retailers in many various art styles. I had graduated in 1991 with a degree in Visual Communication from Wolverhampton University. I had always painted in my free time however by 2014 I was ready to dedicate myself to pursuing my personal work in a more serious vein.

My work deals with my own inner child and my personal spirituality.. The figures and the landscapes of my childhood combine with myth, religion  and other imaginary elements. This in turn creates a visual haven or retreat which I am constantly returning to in my practice.

My paintings are in acrylics painted onto canvas. My art process begins with random abstract shapes and brushstrokes. From this starting point subliminal images begin to appear. I consider my work to be visionary in the sense that I do not know what is going to happen in my painting. I let the canvas lead me. However I believe that images that occur through my seemingly random creative process have a deeply personal childhood connection. This is what I aim to explore further in my work. Art as self reflection and a personal therapy and sanctuary.

Please click on the tabs at the top left hand corner of this page to see all current work as well as work from previous years. If you are interested in viewing a specific painting or would like to know more about my art please feel free to contact me. I am based in South West London.
